Honey Grove is a city in Fannin County, Texas, United States. Honey Grove is regarded as "The Sweetest Town in Texas. " The population was 1,746 at the 2000 census. Honey Grove is a small North Central Texas town,containing a total land area of approximately 1,972.8 acres, and located roughly 16 miles east of Bonham, 39 miles north of Greenville, 42 miles east of Sherman, and 90 miles northeast of the Central Business District of Dallas. Honey Grove was developed on flat to gently rolling terrain with scattered trees. Situated in east Fannin County the City is at an elevation ranging from approximate 580 to 690 feet above sea level. U.S. Highway 82 and State Highway 56 traverse the City from east to west and State Roads 34, 100 and 824 enter the City in a north/south manner. Bonham is the closest major economic center. The Honey Grove area climate produces an annual average daily maximum temperature of 75.1 degrees, and an average annual rainfall is 43.99 inches.
